Beginning in 1933, Danish stamps went through a major transition. The contemporary typographed printing of stamps was replaced by line engraved printing. This resulted in higher quality images and much more attractive looking postage stamps.
The fourteen Numeral-type definitive Danish stamps of 1905-1930 shown above were re-issued between 1933 and 1940. These stamps are engraved on unwatermarked paper, and they are perforated 13.
These new engraved stamps have a background of crossed lines, instead of the solid background of the previous typographed stamps. The small hearts have been removed from the field and the numerals are now in double-lined ovals.
The 05 Ø. and 10 Ø. denominations were also issued in booklets. Tête-bêche pairs and tête-bêche gutter pairs exist of the 05 Ø. Yellow Green and the 10 Ø. Yellow Orange. The 10 Ø. Violet, with excessively large margins, is from the booklet pane shown at the top of column 3.

Definitives of 1933-1947
The booklet pane shown above (Sc. #230b) includes the 10 Ø. + 05 Ø. denomination Red Cross charity stamps (Sc. #B10) issued in 1939.
It had been common practice, at that time, to include some of the charity stamp issues in stamp booklets (se-tenant) with regular definitive stamps.
With the large size of the 1939 charity stamps, the dimensions of the regular definitive stamps in the booklet had to be changed to fit alongside the charity stamps.
The dimensions of the 10 Ø. definitive stamps in the booklet are 23 1/2 x 31 mm., the same dimensions as the charity stamps. The Scott catalog does not assign a separate catalog number to these oversized stamps, other than the fact that they are part of a booklet pane.
