Issues of 1955-1964

Two new series of definitive French Andorra stamps were introduced, between 1955 and 1961, with the second group featuring the first multi-colored stamps of Andorra.

The French Andorra airmail stamps, issued between 1955 and 1964, are also included at the bottom of this page.



The nineteen pictorial definitive French Andorra stamps shown above were issued between 1955 and 1958.  They are engraved and perforated 13.

The four common designs, in the order that they appear in the images above, are as follows.

  • Les Escaldes - Les Escaldes is a town in the Escaldes-Engordany Parish, known for its hot springs.
  • Santa Coloma Belfry - The Church of Santa Coloma, built in the 8th Century, is located in Santa Coloma, Andorra la Vella Parish.
  • Cross of Meritxell - A Gothic cross, located on the old Medieval path leading from Carillo to Meritxell.
  • View of Les Bons - A small village in Andorra, located in the Encamp Parish.

The three French Andorra airmail stamps shown above were issued between 1955 and 1957.  They are engraved and perforated 13.

The common design features an Eagle flying above the East branch of the Valira River.

The catalog attributes are as follows.

  • 100 F.  (1955 - Sc. #C2) - Dark Green.
  • 200 F.  (1955 - Sc. #C3) - Cerise.
  • 500 F.  (1957 - Sc. #C4) - Deep Blue.



The four French Andorra airmail stamps shown above were issued between 1961 and 1964.  They are engraved and perforated 13.

The common design features an airplane flying above the Inclès Valley.
